Description
We currently have up to 8 Kindergarten and first grade students using the bus stop near the corner of Day and Center Street. The crosswalks on Center Street are poorly marked, have no signage and are frequently ignored by motorists who tend to speed through this area - even when pedestrians are in the midst of crossing the street with their children. We have had no less than 4 motor vehicle accidents in this precise location since Christmas Eve alone. I tried to get a response from the Safety Officer with no response for 2 years. This morning, thankfully before bus time, there was yet another accident in which a minivan plowed through the area where kids would just minutes later be standing waiting for their bus. This is a pedestrian neighborhood, children from 3-12 walk to school on these streets, there are always people exercising and walking their babies along this route and we have Frothingham Park on our block which attracts lots of families. Please, help us highlight the danger of speeding, provide crossing guards, signage, and keep us from having another pedestrian tragedy in Easton!

Four accidents in a month is definitely cause for concern. I am afraid that there will be more accidents if nothing is changed. Every Sunday people park on the street blocking one whole lane of traffic on one the the most highly traveled roads in town. This forces drivers to cross over into oncoming traffic. I hear numerous people honking and I know more accidents will happen. People definitely drive too fast, do not slow down for pedestrians and bus stops. The speed limit should be lowered (and posted) and there should be no parking.
Thank you.

I agree that the speed limit should be lowered on this street as well as marking the crosswalk. I walk here often with my dog and son.
Thank you.
