Description
Build a new facility !!!!! The current residents, the future residents and the employees that provide our loved ones unmatched care deserve the best that we can give them. As taxpayers and as compassionate people, we need to make a positive change for our people. We provided the criminals a new 100 million dollar facility, why cant we provide our elderly the same?

I completely agree. Anyone that says the facility should go private probably hasn't dealt with those facilities. My Dad has been to a couple of ones before Golden Hill and the level of care and compassion can not remotely compare to Golden Hill. Anyone who thinks their taxes will go down because the county bails Golden Hill is kidding themselves.
I have a web site set-up at http://www.savegoldenhill.com

The people of Ulster County have made it clear that UC should keep Golden Hill County owned. GH provides care for those people with complex medical conditions other private nursing homes will not take. Golden Hill must remain County owned.

Why don't we move the prisoners out of the jail and make the new prison facility the new old-age home. Then put bars on the Golden Hill and put the prisoners there. Let's get our priority right!

Yes! Yes!
Or just sell the jail, get out of the human suffering business and double down on care for our worthy citizens and their families! Yes!

After other companies see the great job Kingston does at taking care of their elderly,(if we build a new facility) than this could be a big wind-fall for the county. If I had an elderly loved one in the facility ,and this county took the time, money compasion, risk of taken good care of them,I would try hard to bring business here. Once one company comes, than ,word of mouth will bring others.
PLEASE keep Golden Hill under County Care, show our appreciation for all that our elderly has done for US. EVERYONE will get old someday, and during inclimate wheather, you don't want to travel 100 miles, risk your own health ,and....end up in a nursing facility.

You to keep Golden Hill opened because it wouldn't be fair that family members would have to travel to see there loved one. The staff that is employed there also need to keep their jobs with the way todays work force is that might not be able to get another job so keep GH opened for everyone well being. Why do the prisoners deserve a new jail but the elderly do deserve to be in a place that is good for them and to them.

Please come to the demonstration Tues. March 28, 2011 at the County Office Building 4pm. Show your support for the best Health Related Facility. If Ulster County hands control over the private sector, it will be driven by the profit motive and quality care will vanish. See you at the demonstration.

Why is the Freeman taken this off the front page? THIS is news! These are REAL people. The President said last night that the US HELPS people. If this facility isn't kept in Ulster County hands, some of these people are going to die JUST from the move.THINK ABOUT THAT! WE can''t even help our own people! SAD!

We will only get a new or rebuild golden hill if the rich lobbyist of the area want it,it's never about what the average tax payer wants and needs in this county, sorry to say.

There will be another demonstration Tuesday, May 17 at 4pm at the County office building. The common people of Ulster County can do this. The more people who show up, the more our legislators will have to listen. Their jobs depend on it.

Save Golden Hill, but no new facility needed. This building is not that old,and according to the head of maintenance there all systems are up and running.Don't just believe everything these office holders say. They just like to create big projects that cause massive flows of money so they can divert it where they wish and gain favoritism from the recipients.

You know, mstrap, that is a very good observation and contribution. We know now that the premise for the county jail was a fabrication... hard as that is to believe... there was no need for the jail, there was no requirement for creating or expanding... it was motivated and executed as an investment program.
I don't mean to construct that as something sinister... the fact is money and opportunity shapes a persons mind. If you can come up with more delicious information about the real state of the building, that would be great. We already know that Golden HIll really does sete a high standard of care in Ulster County and clients and their families are very pleased. It appears to be a program that UC runs quite expertly and the county ought to build on that.

You said it all, they want to make change just for the sake of change.
kingstoncorridor (Guest)
At the risk of putting too fine a point on it, they want to make change because that is where they make their livings, that is the work they do, and of course, that influences them as in influences each of us: we want to work, we want to contribute, we find things that are "broken" that we can fix. We need not make enemies or attribute evil intentions to them: they are our friends, their intentions certainly feel good to them... yet we must take an objective view and look to the larger interests, the broad benefit, or not, to our community. More and more, I find Golden Hill to be a valued and respected contributor to the general welfare of our county and worth preserving while avoiding damaging, grand expansions and revisions. It is part of the fabric of Kingston.
