Vause- Code Compliance assigned this issue to Police

Per the investigating officer, the subject vehicle is located on private property. The property owner (who is selling the property) has agreed to check with his real estate agent to address the issue, but there is nothing in the municipal code that enables the department or the City to take action in this situation. Anecdotal information regarding the subject vehicle having been used in the past for police training exercises cannot be confirmed.

By viewing Google Maps it appears that the property that this car rests upon is an LID easement that has been used for the placement of a sewer pipe paralleling South beach rd. . Consequently, I would submit that there is responsibility of some "public" or city agency to remove it. All lot lines in the area stop before this designated area, so it does not sit on "private property' as previously determined by the COBI. Please evaluate these new findings and reply.

Thanks for the additional information. The issue is being investigated to determine whether the car is actually on city property. Updates will be posted as they occur.

More information... according to our survey engineer, there is a "high probability" that the car is indeed on city property. I'm glad you reopened the issue, Mr. LeMire. An officer has been asked to locate the registered owner and it is our intent to have the vehicle removed as soon as possible.

No new update at this point, just wanted to check in and let people know that we are still looking into the issue.

After a thorough investigation of the area where the abandoned car is located, it has been determined that the vehicle is located on private property and not a public right-of-way. That determination was made by the City’s Survey Program Manager, Rob Grant, who conducted ground measurements at the location himself. As such, the City will not be taking any action at this time.

I would like to know the owner of this "private" property so that appropriate removal may be accomplished. wflemiire@comcast.net
