Description
**Update: This obviously will not become an issue again until next fall, but it should be researched (who is responsible) and fixed before then.
Original message: Many, many pedestrians use the Smith Street overpass over 95 to get to the train station, mall, or State House. However, no one ever clears the ice and snow from the sidewalks. Several times this winter I saw people slip and fall on the ice/ snow, and sometimes this forced pedestrians into the more dangerous street. The City should clear this area as a matter of public safety, even if the state is technically responsible. Thank you.

Not fixed. Someone needs to determine whose job it is to clear snow from this overpass and enforce that by next season. Our community police officer said he would look into it, but nothing has changed.

Please research who is responsible for this and take action to prevent its recurrence before ice and snow season returns. It would suck to have pedestrians slip and fall and suffer harm because of a bureaucratic game of pass the buck. Someone from the City please post on this issue to show that you're paying attention and working on it. Thank you.

This will become an issue again within a month. I have asked my community policeman, my councilman, and others to find a solution to this issue, and have received no response. The City's public sidewalks must be kept clear for public safety, especially on heavily traveled thoroughfares like this overpass. Please research who is responsible and implement a solution. Thank you.

UPDATE: This is about to become an issue again. No progress has been noted, and it would be terrible if someone gets hurt because the overpass sidewalks are not cleared. This is a high traffic area (pedestrian and automotive) and the City and State risk lawsuits if it is not addressed. Again, this is a matter of public safety. Thank you.
