I prefer to leave the code enforcement to the officials. Not looking for a confrontational experience. I think our best hope is to continue pointing out the violation with respect to existing code, Americans with disabilities act, safety, and the fact that these public walkways are paid for and maintained with our tax dollars so they need to be accessable and useable by everyone. Not just the inconsiderate who use them for their personal property extensions. I hope the city leaders will listen and post signs around the neighborhood, enforce the codes and laws and help make this neighborhood safer, compliant, and a more aesthetic place for our citizens and families who live here to enjoy.

Can’t walk on public sidewalks throughout Pembroke lakes.

Of code enforcement would survey the community and enforce the code regarding no parking over sidewalks which are public property we could eliminate this continuous problem that makes it unsafe to walk thru the neighborhood.

I almost got hit this morning during my morning walk- I had to enter the street on a curve because cars were parked over the sidewalk- how long is it going to be before code enforcement does something about this problem- does some have to get killed?

I hope not. If they do, with all this documentation and no action, there is bound to be substantial liability for the city

They have all the information they need to do so. I have filed a complaint with ADA. I’ve filed a complaint with our mayor and commissioners. Yet no response. I think so. I also think the city needs to offer residents workable options for overflow parking such as a designated parking area where they can keep extra vehicles so the walkways are maintained for usability. Then they need enforcement. It will take all of that to address the problem. Some of my neighbors are angry and think it’s their right to park on the sidewalks or even in the streets. They are not aware of the statutes or don’t care.

Code enforcement. Some people are not getting the word that parking on our sidewalks is a violation of State statutes and ADA laws.

I believe this is the second time Mr Mulvaney assigned this to code enforcement administrator- nothing was done the first time- after several months of violation documentation - let’s hope the administrator decides to do something- laws are there for everyone and we pay the salaries of city employees to make sure violations are addressed in a timely manner!

I cant provide you with every address. There are far too many on a daily basis. All you need do is ride thru the neighborhood and see for yourself. Im not an employee of the city. Please explain if there is a reason these violations cant be enforced without a specific address being provided. Frequent patrols, observations, and enforcements should solve the problem. I have not experienced other cases where private citizens are responsible for conducting the surveillance and reporting so that enforcement could be conducted. Code and law enforcement officers are educated on the state statutes, laws and codes that should be enforced. As a resident and tax payer I expect them to do this. I already have a full time job.

History is well documented here. State statutes and federal ADA laws are also well documented. Is there a justifiable excuse for ignoring the laws and regulations? For putting our pedestrians and handicapped at risk? Just enforce the law and develop effective alternatives for offsite overflow parking. Not so difficult.
