The City of Oakland addressed this issue on 08/04/2020, service request #1033300.

Oakland City Council hereby declares and finds that Graffiti is a public nuisance subject to abatement according to the provisions and procedures contained in the Oakland Municipal Code §8.10.200.

Graffiti vandalism expresses a generalized contempt for community, kindness, and the weak. It mainly appears in areas where a majority of minorities live, therefore graffiti vandals should be considered racist and charged with a hate crime.

Surprised that Oakland Public Works closed this case 😆as one can see they missed a bunch of spots on the 11th Street 980 overpass not to mention the completely missed all the graffiti on the 12th Street 980 overpass between Brush and Castro streets. I’d give them a “F” for a poor job. Oakland spends tens of millions of dollars cleaning up this graffiti and trash that could be going to help educate and house the unsheltered.
