Description
This road has become a truck route between Ridge Pike and Rt 100.
Swamp Pike should be local trucks only. Trucks should use the Rt 100 divided highway in Pottstown.
Trucks have destroyed the road and have taken away the rural character. Swamp Pike has become a dangerous road to drive.
The trucks have added to the noise and water pollution to the small creeks along the road. Trucks would use less fuel on an open highway like the Rt 100 highway. Swamp Pike is too hilly for trucks which causes the trucks to use more fuel.

There is a proper road for them to use in Pottstown called Rt 100.
There should be no cut through truck traffic, local deliveries only.

You mean all the housing developments are taking away the rural character. Route 100 goes North and South and should have nothing to do with Swamp Pike. You are worried about using more fuel??????????? Driving 20 miles out of your way waste fuel. Duh....
Trucks have been using Swamp Pike forever.

Large trucks are spotted going over 65 mph down the hills there.
This is fatal for those walking or wanting to bicycle down this road.
Local environmental groups are starting to move on having this road go to " no trucks " because of the damage to the air and small streams.

This allows more run-off which damages the creeks.
Tire rubber and oil dripping off the large engines damage the streams.
This road will be closed to trucks in th future

The really should use Ridge Pk to rt 100

They now have methods on tracking truck traffic.
This is being done mainly to stop through traffic between 422 and rts 73 and 100.
The state is very open to imposing " local trucks only "
This has already started and it will go through in 2 years.

This road has become too busy for truck traffic and trucks should use alternate routes. A resident living close to the road has reported cracks in their house walls due to the overweight trucks hauling stone and trash. Take this issue to your Township Reps and have this road posted " No Trucks "

Cracks in someone's house is not from trucks. Cracks in a house is normal from teperature change from hot to cold, then cold to hot. Stop lying and making up excuses. Trucks need to use this road as they always have and always will.
So are you saying a truck ran into a car and pushed them off the road? Is this what happened? Did someone call the police about the accident? Stop lying about the trucks and Swamp Pike. Truckers and Swamp Pike were there first before all these houses.

I live next to a racetrack. Should I have them stop racing because of all the noise, traffic and dust?

This will limit the road to cars only.
They are to start the planning this summer.
Hoping some will use bikes to commute to work and reduce global warming.

you get the same issues from cars and normal grade trucks as you do with tractor trailers. you have no proof either that trucks have increased the pollution level or destroyed the road either... and any road is dangerous no matter how you look at it - there's always some sort of problem. hills cause problems no matter where you are too..
I think you need to find some justifcation for your argument other than this bs lol...

The intent is to have " local trucks only ".
This would mean all the trucking companies using Swamp Pike as a cut through to reach 100 or 463 will no longer be permitted.
The road will some day be listed as a " scenic highway ".
This is great news.
Last week there was a report of a homeowners items falling off their shelf from a loaded truck rumbling by.

Sounds like someone needs to level their shelves or build better shelves. Trucks will always use this road. Make it a 4 lane highway. Make it wider to handle all the traffic. This would be good news.
Swamp Pike needs a Mall where the junk yard is. It could be named Barnshaw Mall.

I wonder , why do you want trucks using this road ?
Can you provide a sensible answer ?
Now of course , if there is business on the road by all means it needs to be used.
But why use as a " cut through "
Really , be sensible about the answer.
It's going to change, sorry.

There is a weather and air monitor system now on Swamp Pike that few people know about.
Some of the readings on CO2 are very high due to the diesel.
Also , some of the Native White Oak and Beech trees are showing air pollution stress from the deisel.

This is dangerous and may cause injury.
Truck drivers should use alternate routes and not wait for the law to require it.
At this point it is just common sence
