In the are on and around this road patch, water is seeping up through the ground the majority of the time. This has been happening for at least 2 years now; several people have contacted the town about this issue, yet it has never been fixed. First, this looks like a mere infrastructure problem; however, this is quickly growing into a public safety hazard for several reasons. First, increased amounts of water beneath the road surface can alter the soil below, reducing its strength which will ultimately cause the road to collapse in on itself, creating a bigger and more dangerous problem than what exists right now. It is known that changes in soil permeability can cause extreme stability issues for road surfaces. Secondly, in the winter, the street completely freezes over from this water, creating a hazard for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. This leak needs to be fixed immediately as it is simply an avoidable catastrophe waiting to happen.
