Thanks to Cal Fire for clearing some brush but it doesn’t address the real fire danger to the families living with 20-30 yards of this camp. We all know that with homeless camps come fires. Look no further than Cal Expo and the American River Parkway.

Wow. Too many vagrants keep crawling into town, eh?

The Police Department posted this camp for abatement and is working to have it removed tomorrow.

Good that FPD is abating this campsite. But if the inhabitants don't leave, FPD will probably not force them out. If they do leave, they will likely just relocate and set up camp in Lembi Park or the adjacent greenbelt behind the aquatic center or join the camps that are already there. If they do, will have a safe haven because Folsom officials appear to have taken a hands-off approach to the numerous encampments that have formed there over the past few months.

I look forward to seeing this happen tomorrow. There is a disconnect in our local government between the homeless and the Federal Aid Sacramento County received for homeless affected by the Covid Crisis. 4.3 million was given to Sac County. On 4/13 Governor Newsom stood in front of a hotel in West Sac saying he has leased hotel rooms in Sac to provide shelter and safety to the homeless who traditionally don't follow Covid Safety guidelines. Their presence is a danger to the community . This is why the Federal Judge in LA has ordered homeless off the streets and into housing. My opinion is that a dangerous campsite should be treated the same way. These homeless people should not be left in this camp and allowed to destroy our private nature preserves. There are codes to enforce in the City Code. This is not Public Property!!!!

Even on public property transients should not be allowed to destroy nature preserves. Unfortunately city officials have allowed this to occur in Lembi Park and surrounding greenbelt areas over the past several months. Hopefully they will resume tagging and removing these encampments and protecting greenery in our parks (from the known vandal who has been caught numerous times ripping branches from trees and shrubs) once Covid-19 quaranteen is lifted.
