So many people in the Meadow lane area are sick and tired of unmonitored motorcycles racing on east O street. Some people can't even sleep at night it's so loud. Some are taking to the streets on Friday evenings and are going to start bombarding the LPD social media sites with videos asking "where the hell are the police". All they get from LPD is they are aware of the problem. Those who have gone out have never seen any police presence anywhere in site. We're guessing someone will have to die before someone actually pays attention to this problem. LPDs non emergency # is going to get flooded with calls every night. Its been going on for years and people want action before that on idiot racer dies.
Its hard for the police to chase down these sports motorcycles in city limits. These bikes can go 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds and have a top speed of 170+. Police vehicles aren't that quick and can not maneuver in and out of traffic like sport bikes. It to dangerous and can cause more injuries. I have seen many sport bikes having their license plates bent upward so the police won't be able to read them to get their info. Maybe there needs to be a city helicopter that can follow it. Even if the rider ditches the bike. The police can impound it and maybe arrest the rider another day. Public saftey is more important.
