I believe that the section of Piedmont Ave from W MacArthur Blvd south will be resurfaced as part of the separate Kaiser construction project which is still ongoing. This will save the city some money by not having to do that work themselves, so although it is taking longer it seems to be worth the wait.

I'm not sure what the specific timeline is on the hospital project, but some of the work that affected Broadway is just wrapping up so perhaps they will be getting to that part of Piedmont before too long as well. Bicycle lanes will be striped on Piedmont north of W MacArthur any day now as part of the city project, and I believe Kaiser will also be adding them to the segment they are responsible for as well.

Paving work on this part of Piedmont Ave is underway at this very moment, with the road closed to traffic and crews out digging up the asphalt with jackhammers to do base repairs before the street is resurfaced. I'm not sure exactly how much of the roadway is being fixed, but it looks like they have the whole street closed from Randwick Ave north the the freeway underpass.

Lower part of Piedmont still a disaster zone; hence, submitting to OPW for immediate repair as a "Top 10" pothole hazard, per an agreement between Bike East Bay and the City of Oakland.

The pavement on this section of Piedmont Ave has not yet been addressed. Some neighbors are trying to get Kaiser to fix it as part of their hospital construction mitigation, but nothing has been settled yet.

With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.
