Everything Joe said is true. I’d also like to add that this behavior happens at all hours including when young children are out playing. Also of note, I have raised this issue to the Hyattsville Police Department during their coffee with a cop program, but the issue persists.

Just happened now. 9:06 am on a Saturday. A kid’s going to get killed if Hyattsville doesn’t do something.

Just happened again now at 3:05. A historic Ford is taking laps, going about 45. Kids all over the street.

Public Works will look at the issue from an infrastructure perspective. we have asked the Police Department to look at the enforcement aspect.

Friday at 4:17. Two vehicles sped through the stop sign at 39th and Oliver without stopping and at over 50 miles an hour. A kid’s going to get killed.

Thank you. 2 motorcycles blew through the stop sign right as my son and I were on the corner at 3:45 yesterday going about 45 or so. Police do drive down the street periodically, but no one has ever been pulled over to my knowledge.

8:44 Saturday morning, motorcyclist blows through both stop signs at 40th and Oliver, flying up 41st ave

As a mother, I am appalled at the frequency with which I see cars speeding down this stretch of street while children are out and playing. Please address this issue by either stopping these cars and motorcycles or creating speed bumps/stop sign to encourage safety for our local community. Thank you for reading this and taking action!

7:30 pm. Motorcycles drag racing down Oliver. At least twice the speed limit.
