Fines issued and will continue to be issued until compliance.

Fines are great for Chelsea but it does not help the beautification of my neighborhood. And pardon me but I find it really hard to believe that who ever owns this building is willing to pay $300 per day vs. getting rid of the graffiti. Where do I get proof that these files were levied or paid? This graffiti has been on this building for over a year. What must be done to get this addressed? I too pay taxes in Chelsea, just like those on the Hill or the lady that saw graffiti as she rode on the bus.

We continue to issue tickets until the property owner removes the graffiti.

If tickets are not paid, can the town arrest the owner? Or file a lien against the property and ultimately take it for non-payment?

I'd like to know if these charges are added to their tax bills or how it's handled and the outcome on non compliance for them.

This building is under agreement, and the title will soon be transferred to what we all hope will be a more responsive owner. Falcionem, the City Manager wanted to tell you especially that:

"Police officers regularly patrol for gang graffiti and take it very seriously. I personally regularly go out in the middle of the night and paint over graffiti. I was out at midnight just this week, in fact, painting over graffiti. The best way for us to work on this frustrating issue is to work together and not point fingers and blame each other for the acts of vandals.
