Or Boondoggle ? Bollocks .
Somebody smelled gas , glad it wasn't me , and i do go by there everyday..Too bad about the doors getting busted on the adjacent house or two.
Yes they found the leak in the street , A Sub Contractor did the work this past summer , from Division and Clifton down to Pershing and Bridge ..Letting a sub contractor outfit like that play pipe with GAS is pretty scary.
It would have been a saving grace if they used flag wavers instead of A P D , fiddle faddlin on phones

That contractor (from Massachusetts) is doing the pipe replacement for both major gas companies in CT. The gas companies themselves no longer to that kind of work - Welcome to the world of deregulated shareholder-owned utilities!
But I’m confused that you feel safer about a dangerous gas leak if the contractor used flaggers rather than police! How does one have anything to do with the other? And what do you care who the contractor pays to do this work? The city’s not paying for it! It’s private utility work.
