Do you really think PennDot has the common sense to do something like that? They couldn't care less if it's going to be a nightmare to get into Pottstown. There is no way both accesses should be closed at the same time but don't hold your breath on getting PennDot to do something sensible!

Rt 100 is way more vital that the Keim St Bridge. So what if YOU are a bit inconvenienced. The big picture is to fix the MAJOR artery not the little capillary.

Well we all have to accept the fact that the bridge is getting repaired. So therefore the only thing to do is find an alternate route and wait for the repairs to be completed. Complaining on here is not going to get the bridge fixed any faster.

Starting from who ville , make a left at google maps, driving .7 miles then making a right to wahhhh road. Continue 3.5 miles to sandin vag and that turns into leave earlier parkway.

Seriously instead of complaing about the keim street bridge being closed worry about safety. Do you really want to drive over the bridge and have it collapse under your car? The damn thing is literally falling apart and already has holes that you can look through and see the water below you. Is it really that hard to find an alternate route thats takes up a few more minutes of your time?

I agree it's an unsafe bridge but why must PennDot start work on the other two areas right now? How is someone from Chester County supposed to get into Pottstown, by helicopter?!

Why don't you go to home depot , buy some hammers , nails and some wood and BUILD YOUR OWN BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT

Is Home Depot having a 'white' sale right now on those materials? Knowing how PennDot works it would be a better bridge, it would be a lot cheaper, and it surely wouldn't take as long! I say let's get moving on that idea! Are you available this Saturday to get started?!

I highly doubt Penndot is doing the work. They aren't equipped to do that kinda repairs. It will probably go to an outside contractor for the lowest bid.

Not only the will the freeway be a parking lot ,south Hanover at the railroad tracks will be a nightmare unless 15 minute parking is eliminated. also, could the Keim st bridge be used one way ,from south to north?

Ben, you are absolutely right! PennDot couldn't handle that or much else. I called then about three weeks ago about a 4" diameter branch that is hanging precariously over the road and they still haven't touched it. So thankfully they won't get their mitts on that bridge either!

South Hanover Street will be a huge problem. Your idea about using Keim Street one way is a good one but I have a hard time feeling PennDot even cares.

Its not the point that the bridge is closing, yes we want the repairs done noone wants anyone hurt. They need to pave the whole Industrial Highway while they are at fixing the bridge if they even fix and reopen it. The point is they are doing Bridge work in Pottstown to bridges all about at the same time and will cause traffic nightmares. The traffic already has gotten bad on South Hanover Street about dinner time because people are veering off Route 100 because that gets conjested at dinner also, and thats OK too but then people coming off the Hanover St ramp from 422 cannot get out to turn left or even sometimes turn right because people don't want to let them out. Everyone is in a rush to go nowhere. Mark my words there will be an accident there sooner or later.

Anita, I agree with you 100% and I mentioned something to that effect in an earlier post. Why must PennDot do all those repairs at the same time? What mental midget came up with that plan and why don't they change it until one or the other is completed? Obviously those in charge of the whole mess don't have to use those routes or they would change it. As for paving the Industrial Highway, where is money-strapped Pottstown going to get the cash for that job? They don't have the money to repair potholes!

Penn Dot will not fix the Keim St. Bridge. It is "owned" by Montgomery County. Penn Dot has nothing to do with the closing.
