It can't be that difficult to time the lights along E. Vernor at St. Aubin & Gratiot so that there isn't a huge back up. I drove through there yesterday and the light at Gratiot was red for about 4 minutes, and drivers don't have enough sense not to block the intersection at St. Aubin, so there is grid lock on both St. Aubin & E.Vernor.

I think the problem is Gratiot. Carrying so much more traffic toward downtown.
