Rebuild the sidewalk which used to provide a safe connection for pedestrians, those pushing baby strollers, cyclists etc between the intersection of Atlantic and Pacific/Atlantic and 42. I would suggest citizen services staff try to walk between 42 and the boardwalk, a common route residents try to take and see how dangerous it is for pedestrians. This issue has been reported numerous times before and the complaints are ignored by a city staff. It is outrageous that a private developer is allowed to tear up sidewalks for his convenience and city staff do nothing to provide a safe route for pedestrians.
Thank you for using VB Works to report a concern to the City of Virginia Beach. Your service request has been forwarded to Public Works/Operations for investigation. For more information or a status update on your request, you can contact them directly at 757-385-1470. Please be sure to identify your concern as having come in via SeeClickFix/VB Works any time you call about these requests. Not all departmental personnel are involved in using this system.
In order to properly report your concerns we need a little more information. Is the sidewalk a danger due to trip hazards and broken concrete? Or is it being blocked by an overgrowth of grass/ plants etc?

The sidewalk has been blocked by fencing that could easily have been moved a few feet out of the public right of way. There is no reason to have the fence where it is. They are only storing trash in the area which could easily be pushed to the developer’s property. This is forcing people to enter the roadway. There is no access for disabled people.
It is very dangerous as the street (Atlantic) is two lanes but narrow, and no sidewalk whatsoever is bad policy if planning approved it. If it was closed because construction of the new condos along the street would have been so close to the sidewalk and street, that begs the question: why allow structures/buildings so close to the street? Why not have the same setback required of others?
