That's great in theory but you eventually HAVE to stop at a red light. What you are suggesting and asking to be put on a sign is a notion that if you go the speed limit, you will never hit a red light. That obviously will not apply to everyone, nor does it take into account drivers slowing down to turn into resturants and businesses. It's a pain but the timing of the lights isn't the answer. There is no logical way that they ALL can be timed due to the simple fact that not everyone drives the same speed. For arguments sake lets say that you have 12 cars going down M-59 going 50MPR (the speed limit from White Lake to Waterford) 8-10 of those 12 may get thru a newly turned grenn light but the remaining cars will most definately be stopped by the light turning red. I have lived near M-59 my entire life and my only suggestion would be to suck it up, drive the speed limit and realize that there are many lights on 59 due to the many roads that intersect it. There's nothing you can do about it, so try not to add to all the uneccessary road rage thats already out there.

There should be a way to do this. The savings in gas would be significant. Have traffic flow synchronized for traffic flow into Pontiac about 10 miles from the city in both directions. Reverse the timing for traffic flow out of the city. Seems a green way to go. Why wouldn't the Road Commission for Oakland County and maybe the City of Pontiac want to do this? Might even help business.

I moved to Ingham County after living in Oakland for over two decades. I am always amazed at the flow of traffic in Ingham. Every morning on my way to and from work, I do not hit a single red light. Oakland County is a joke when it comes to traffic. Yellow lights are shortened, streets are set under their originally designed MPH, and plenty of cops everywhere to squeeze money from the city's tax-paying citizens. Truly, a police state within the police state. Good riddance, Oakland County. You may be beautiful at times but what you've become makes me sad.

The number of people that commute during rush hours in the morning and evening definitely outnumbers or is the same as Telegraph Road and look at the improvements made there? M-59 is seriously in need of improvements with consideration of the people that work between the East side of Pontiac and the West side of White Lake. THIS IS OUR ONLY possible route. Michigan DOT please do something! (and, yes the lights through Pontiac and Waterford are insanely short.)
