I totally agree with the speed bumps, but there are so many steps you have to go through before you can even suggest this to the township. I've done some research on the township website. They say many times it just appears they are going over the speed limit when seeing them from your window or door. They recommend that you test it out by timing how long it takes you to get from a Point A to a Point B doing the speed limit. Mark the points with cones. Test it out yourself a few times. Then time cars that drive by, and if they are obviously going from Point A to Point B too fast, they are speeding. You then go to them with your evidence before they even consider doing something about it. I know they have those strips they can lay across the road to test speed of traffic and traffic flow. I guess they want us to do the work for them.

For all the taxes around here that we pay, believe me if u call and irk them, and especially now w/ elections coming up, u may get those speed bumps.

I also live on Lehann Circle and my neighbors and I have discussed this at length. My neighbor talked with the police and found that they were no help. I am very concerned that it will take one of our children getting hurt before anything will be done... if even that will convince them. I think we should represent in force to the police chief. Posting here will not solve any problems I am afraid. Perhaps the only answer is to change Lehann Circle or the street that the vet is on (not sure if that is the same name) to one way going the other way, so there is no more shortcut.

I have to say if you call, e mail or whatever..petitions, things will get done! I had an issue a few years back when Spectators was open and the drunks would park on our street Homestead Avenue. I called, complained, and I got signs put up for NO PARKING on this side of street. Cops came by, and ticketed the cars, and the nonsense stopped. You can't tell the cops anything because it's the Township that needs to address this. Ask about a flashing light, speed bumps, etc....

Well unfortunately I heard a child was hit by a car on his way to the bus stop down the street last week. I was talking with some of the neighbors on Thursday and one of the little girls across the street from me witnessed it. My next door neighbor told me he has gone to the police several times about how people speed down here and don't stop at any of the stop signs at the corner of Lehann and Garden. To my surprise I looked out my front door early Friday evening and there are road strips and a monitor box installed in the street out front of my house. I don't know if it was due to my post, my neighbors complaints or the kid getting hit, but I'm glad something is finally getting done. Almost every house on this street has at least 1-3 kids, a lot of them very young. I keep a very good eye on my daughter when she is playing outside, but kids are unpredictable and forget about dangers very easily. It's not only the fact that people are speeding, it's that they are also preoccupied. They are in a hurry, on their cell phones and speeding. People have forgotten about driving laws and drive by their own rules. These driving laws keep you and others safe, including our children.

Well the results came back that only about 5% of the traffic was speeding, so not much else can be done by police other than patrolling. I appreciate that they took quick action to monitor the problem, and get back to me.
