Description
Just last night, my friend and I were walking N.Main Street, and about six boys on bikes came racing up behind us, they had no intention of stopping, so we had to move, as they zoomed by, my friend shouted,"Bikes on the road, that's the law." Of course they completely ignored us. We are sick of this happening on a daily basis. I can't wait for winter when these rude kids won't be able to ride at all!

I have a daughter with Down's syndrome. She loves to bike. So we go together to the Choate Campus. For a very short distance, we use the sidewalk. I'm afraid when we have to ride on the street. We clearly understand that we have to yield to pedestrians and we do. The problem is not that the law is not being enforce, the problem is that some people are simply rude. Some cars don't pay attention to bikes on the road and some bikes don't pay attention to people on the sidewalk. If the law were enforced, what would you choose: Paying a ticket when your daughter rides on the sidewalk? or having the driver, who kills her on the street, sent to prison? For me is clear, I would pay the ticket. But I think that there is no need, because there are very few pedestrians (less than cars) and we are always respectful.
Let's share the road and enjoy life.

I have no problem with bike riders if they yield to pedestrians, I also don't think bike riders should get tickets, their are many other things to worry about, the comment was meant for the bike riders who practically run over pedestrians on the sidewalks. Don't blame people who want to avoid the street sometimes, drivers can be rude too.
