Description
Loveseat (and basket of junk) dumped on High St betw. MacArthur and Masterson, near the entrance to the Post Office parking lot. The loveseat matches the CPU h that was dumped in the same neighborhood a few days ago... Thank you do much for removing it!

Michael,
I noticed this this morning as well. What nerve! In some ways, if and when the City picks these things up, folks feel like it is a free dumping service.
Some Cities are placing "sleuths" at select sites:
"An investigator stationed at Wood Avenue and Grove Street saw two males pull up in a 1993 Toyota Camry and dump garbage bags, household goods, furniture and other items on the sidewalk next to 224 Grove St.
The investigator approached the men, who ran in opposite directions and got away. But the car was seized and its owner, a woman, was identified, police said.
"We spend tens of thousands of dollars to clean this up. It's not fair to taxpayers and it's not fair to residents who wake up to a pile of garbage bags near their house," said Christopher Rosario, director of Anti-Blight & Illegal Dumping in the city's office of Neighborhood Revitalization.
He said offenders have been people who dump unwanted items and garbage from their apartments and contractors who dump construction debris to save on a tipping fee.
The city has tried different strategies to address the issue, but have found it challenging because the dumping often happens in the early morning hours or in remote locations, Rosario said.
The private investigators will stake out some of the known illegal dumping grounds several times a week. When they catch someone dumping, they will call police.
"We needed to try something different," Rosario said. "We need to send a message to people, a message with real consequence, that this won't be tolerated in Bridgeport."
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection website says the state can impose a $219 fine for dumping anything bigger than one cubic foot, vehicles involved in dumping can be seized, and dumpers can be sued for clean-up costs."
