This issue was addressed by the Road Commission in See Click Fix #42622. This is an MDOT signal and we have requested a fix for this area but must obtain MDOT approval before we can proceed.
MDOT directed us to make some timing changes a few weeks ago, but I believe we've received more complaints since then, so they will be changing that back. A more permanent remedy is needed.
Although some timing changes have been made to the traffic lights..... the timing of the light just east turning off of the exit ramp needs to be extended. With it being such a short cycle traffic backs up on the ramp. Also cars that know this speed through a the changing light and leaves it vulnerable for an accident with cars turning south on Dunhum.
Even changing the no turn on red would help. It seems there is always enough time at certian points that you could turn saftely but can't.
People coming off the I-94 expressway to 23 mile do not stop at the light, there is a steady line of traffic that ignores the light, causing cars on 23 Mile to jam up, then many of them turn S. on Donner, again causing a jam up.I would like to see this resolved
The changes in the lights in that area was a really bad decision by MDOT. Get it fixed please. Horrible to drive either East or Westbound on 23 Mile. Also bad, trying to make a left turn off I94 exit toward Westbound 23 Mile. I have seen traffic back up from this highway intersection all the way back to the railroad tracks on the WEST side of Gratiot!! It's a nightmare everyday!!
The timing seemed to be better until about 2-3 weeks ago. There were some men out there working on the light and now it is backed up forever again! Can you find someone that can figure out how to make the traffic flow instead of taking 20minutes to cross over I-94. It is absolutely ridiculous!!!
Why does the left turn light coming off eastbound I94 last longer than the right turn light. There is no reason traffic can't turn right if other cars are turning left. This doesn't make sense. Everyday traffic is backed up almost to the expressway. This ramp was just redone, why was there no round-about put in conjunction with donner rd. this would allieviate a lot of traffic issues. Was there any studies done before the ramp was re-paved.
Now that the right hand turn lanes as you exit the freeway are red arrows instead of a "do not turn on red" you have caused a nightmare. People didn't obey the no turn on red and now they run right through the arrows. Where is everyone's common sense.
