Cars run the red light at this intersection in all directions every business day. It can be very scary when trying to cross when you have the pedestrian walk light.

This is the largest city-controlled intersection in Cambridge, left over from the 1970s "urban renewal" days. It's true that it would be much more comfortable to cross if it were smaller, like other intersections in Cambridge. I have some improvements in mind. We did extend the medians on Galileo a little bit a year or so ago. More needs to be done. Stay tuned.

From the responses, it is clear that the city traffic engineer understands that this is a difficult intersection. The issue of running red lights is not just at this intersection, of course, it's prevalent in many areas. It would be nice if the intersection could be the focus of police ticketing vehicles as they do sometimes at the corner of Main and Albany when people run the stop sign. Or, on Main Street as people speed over the bridge into Kendall Square.
Thanks for your consideration with this issue.
