Is OPD and/or Caltrans promptly notifying scrap yards when such thefts are reported? If not, they need to set up a system to readily do so. OPD did so in the case of the Spanish-American War torpedo port that was stolen from Lakeside Park and the culprit was arrested thanks to the alertness of the Yard Manager at Schnitzer Steel.

On a hunch, I contacted Schnitzer Steel and sure enough, the guardrail was sold this morning but they have "all their information". I tried to file a report with OPD and with Caltrans and, despite spending 45 minutes on the phone, got absolutely nowhere. I hope Schnitzer, which is trying once again to be the good guy, is having more success.

Wow! I'm surprised Schnitzer would even buy it!

Thanks Ken for making time for such great work! I was concerned that they would come back, but now they may even go to court for this crime..
