It is , in many cyclists' opinions, including this cyclist's, a complete travesty of official misconduct on the part of the Kane co. Sheriff to make it illegal to travel the fox river bike path through the Stearn's Road construction area.
I posit this: Let the people travel on the people's bike path at their own "peril". (Whatever that might be.) This closing is totally counter intuitive to what the green movement needs right now in Kane Co. The construction on Interstate 90 Bridge over the fox did not close the path. Right? Let us commute safely on the path rather than at our peril on route 31 or 25. I had just kited in from Woodstock the other day, without incident I might add came upon the closure. It was obvious bike traffic had been moving through at near normal rates so I proceeded through the police-state like barricades and on the other side was almost given a 75.00 ticket for my trouble of riding a bike rather than driving a car!!!
Cyclists need to be rewarded for their efforts, not punished. the bicycle movement has come a long way. Let's not send it back 30 years by arresting cyclists for nothing more than what cyclists have been doing since man first climbed on two wheels, saving a little gas money and helping to stop global warming!!!!!!!
