Description

Gross negligence by the City Building Inspection/Enforcement Department for failing to enforce building standards and by-laws by the builder of the new home at 3 Hazelridge Drive, Toronto, ON A new build at 3 Hazelridge Drive Toronto was built and sold by the builder in 2011 to a resident and the City's records show - that the City Building Inspection Dept has not "signed" on the property yet due to so many problem issues. Dorothy Barrett (resident/owner of 55 years) lives at 63 Glenaden Avenue East beside the 3 Hazelridge Drive. The City is responsible to inspect and enforce by-laws and building, and by-laws are in place to protect resident's property and quality of life.
Impacts to 63 Glenaden Ave East:
1) fence was build by the builder that exceed the maximum height allowance on the 63 Glenaden Ave side of the fence.
2) the builder back-filled the property at 3 Hazelridge Drive by as much as 30 inches of fill and a cheap poorly constructed lumber fence is being used a retaining wall for the 30 inches of back fill
3) Water run off from the grade change is washing silt, sand, gravel under the fence (30 inches below grade) into the back yard at 63 Glenaden Ave killing the plants and grass and water is pooling in the back yard of at 63 Glenaden
4) The fence (poorly built) by the builder has the the pointed end of the nails coming through the lumber exposing the the sharp points of the nails on 63 Glenaden Ave's side of the fence.
5) Part of the builing structure is 2/10's of foot over the property line onto 63 Glenaden's lot - this was checked on an OLS (Ontario Land Surveyor) - confirming a portion of the structure on 3 Hazelridge Drive is atleast 2/10's foot over the property line.
6) The driveway built by the builder at 3 Hazelridge is over the allowable size - creating excessive water run-over from 3 Hazelridge Drive on the lot at 63 Glenaden Ave.

The city turned a blind eye to all the issues during construction and failed to enforce regulations to the point the city was afraid to get involved or be scene around the property at 3 Hazelridge - why was the city afraid to enforce the by-laws??? Why has the city not "signed off" on the property?? Why did the city allow the property at 63 Glenaden Ave to be impacted so much??? And when is the city going to force the builder to make things right in the area.
The has be negligent and irresponsible, and this file needs to be addressed.
