I think it should be reported to the Public Works emergency line and not the Oakland Police non-emergency line.

Don't call the police to report a public works problem. This only further delays the response from public works to correct the problem because the 911 dispatcher has to stop answering 911 calls and call 615-5566 to report the problem to public works. While the 911 dispatcher is waiting for public works on the phone, 911 calls are waiting to be answered. Please do not call the police for public works problems. 510-615-5566 is answered 24 hours a day for public works emergencies and this does not tie up our overworked 911 center.

Well, it does make more sense to just call the emergency number for public works instead of the overburdened OPD and having them forward the info. Just putting the Public Works emergency number into my phone directory now...

I suggested the NON-emergency # because a manhole cover was open on a major thoroughfare and I had no idea what the PW emergency line was, but knew SCF was NOT the fastest solution. Y'all are unbelievable. A non-emergency call does NOT push out 911 calls. Who knows if no one had said anything this could have quickly become a serious emergency. Stop being so ridiculous and be thankful anyone else even cares to take action around here.

Matt, it's great that you care about your city and take the time to report unsafe conditions and blight. It's much appreciated. I can't speak for Guest, but I'm just interested in getting the emergency PW ph# out there and hope people will keep it handy.
