Description

Independence Ave in front of the Capitol goes from 2/2 east/west lanes to 3/1 east/west during rush hour. However, the signs that alert drivers to this important fact are under-lit and hard to spot. As a consequence, literally 4 out of 5 days a week I end up playing what amounts to a game of chicken with oncoming cars who have not seen the poor visibility LED signs. This is especially dangerous because I drive a motorcycle which has a slimmer profile than a full-size car. About once a week the oncoming cars do not change course and I am forced to swerve into another lane to avoid being hit.

Please make the signals more prominent and easy to read. Dotted lane markers on that 3rd lane could also help.

Conveniently, the street has just been ripped up and construction is ongoing so hopefully this could be folded into that project.
