Description
Too many drivers show a disregard for the 25 mph speed limit and the safety of the residents of Farm Hill Rd. Drivers routinely travel above 50 mph and do not slow down for pedestrians or residents who may be working on their property. As a result, there have been speed-related accidents on the street. Middletown Police Deptartment's placement of a speed-monitor , the kind that flashes one's speed, has no lasting effect. Yes, some drivers slow down while the monitor is in service, but those traveling in the opposite direction continue to go as fast as they please.

If everyone is obeying the speed limit, getting rear-ended is not as likely. Farm Hill Road "invites" speeding, unfortunately. It's a straight-away with no stop signs. Rte. 17, with its traffic and traffic lights, and Hunting Hill Avenue which has numerous stop signs, are parallel to Farm Hill.
Thus, Farm Hill is a convenient shortcut where speeding is tolerated. That doesn't mean the residents should have to tolerate the dangers and noise of excessive speed.
Take a walk on Farm Hill some day. You'll see, but be prepared to jump onto the safety of a curb!

I almost always drive 50-65 MPH on Farm Hill Road.
I agree with the first comment here, that the road is a convenient shortcut where speeding is tolerated. If you see a car coming, get out of the way because we're not slowing down! We'll be careful to go around you though.
