Description
I have been warning you for years about the dangers of people speeding down Lake Lindero and the only thing the city does is send out the Sheriff which does nothing as soon as they leave.
Last night my family got home from Thanksgiving at 8pm. We got our 2 1/2 year old out of his car seat and he bolted for the street directly in front of a car doing 40+ MPH in a 25 zone zone. We ran into the street and the car swerved just in time to miss us and our child.
I DEMAND arhat you address the issue. My son almost died last night because the city has refused to do anything about this issue for years.
Do I need to file a suit against the city? Does someone need to die for you to address this problem? Please tell me how we should proceed.

Thank you for reporting this issue using SeeClickFix. This report will once again be forwarded to the Sheriff Department for patrol purposes. If there is specific information on repeat offenders (i.e., make model, etc), please contact the Sheriff's Department at 818-878-1808.
There are currently traffic calming measures (speed humps) in the area, and the City's Public Works Director and Traffic Engineer have had the area reviewed. We will continue to advise the Sherrif's Department on this issue .
If you'd like to talk about this issue, please feel free to contact me directly. 818-597-7314. Louis

The speed bumps are too flat to do any good. Why not rebuild them like they used to be years ago? SUV's can travel over the current speed bums at 40+ MPH without even noticing they are there.
What will it take to get the city to address this issue? Do I need to get a signed petition from all the residents that live on Lake Lindero? I promise you that someone is going to be seriously injured or killed on this street and there will be a massive lawsuit against the city especially since there are so many complaints logged on this site warning the city of the problem.
Bottom line is you current traffic calming methods DO NOT work and we are all asking for you to please do something about it. Can you please let me know why the city refuses to take this issue seriously? Is it the cost of changing the speed bumps? Maybe we can do a fund raiser or take donations. I can guarantee the residents would be more than willing to help out in any way in order to slow down traffic and protect our children.

There are lots of traffic calming measures other than speed bumps that could be used on Lake Lindero to slow down traffic. Here is an article describing some of them:

Several years ago, the city employed street calming measures at the corner of Carrel and T.O. Blvd. It is still in place and seems to work.

The only solution is to hit speeders in there wallet. This street has to have sheriffs hidden to issue enough tickets for people to understand that this is not their cut through street.
If a kid gets hurt and you could have done more to fix this issue, that is going to be on you too.
Enough, politically correct half measures. "We are going to have a bigger police presences." That only works if it leads to a solution. The previous attempts have not worked. Stop kidding yourselves officials.
Everyone knows if you want to stop speeding you have to issues enough tickets for speeders to understand not to speed through the area.
You would not tolerate this in your neighborhood. Don't expect us to.

I just dont understand why the city will not address this issue. We have been trying to get them to do something for years and this is the response every time:

The Sheriff Department has been advised and request for continued patrols made.
Louis this is simply not working. Can you please look into increasing the size and frequency of the speedbumps back to how they used to be, Installing chokers at each of the intersections, stop signs, no left turns to get to the school in the morning and afternoon hours. There are so many things that can be done and we would really appreciate the city in safguarding our neighborhood.
