Jarvis, the resident who submitted the concerns explained the issue. The Public Works Department has posted the road closure on the City website, installed road closure signs and detour signs. There were wooden road closure barricade signs and concrete barricades installed. The issue is the barricades have been moved and run over and damaged. There are large trucks that have damaged the concrete barricades as they push them aside. The Public Works staff can not monitor the traffic 24-7 and the City's property is being damaged. The persons driving through the road closure barricades, damaging the barricades and signs are violating the City Ordinance.... Sec. 8-1007. - Same—Breaking or removing material.
It shall be unlawful for any person to cut, break, remove, tear down, destroy or molest any barricade, rope, wire, cable, fence or roadblock lawfully erected or established whereby any area, street, alley or portion of either has been enclosed, blocked off, closed or fenced or from which area, street, alley or portion of either the public or any part thereof has been permanently or temporarily excluded.

I believe this issue should be forwarded to the East Point Police Department!

With the new barracades that were placed on the East Point side of the bridge today there should be no way the bridge is passable now .

Thank you. The bridge looks the same on our side, which is also in East Point. It was taken at 4:47pm, and we watched four vehicles travel over the bridge during the ten minutes we were on site.

This is our side of the bridge, located within East Point City Limits. Vehicles are driving through, and then squeezing between the edge and barriers on the other side.

My apologies, that is NOT our side of the bridge, that is the side closest to the recycling plant.

At least with the bridge open, they don't drive up on the grass...

public works and the sign crew were asked to add new barriers this morning 11/21/17 at 0715

Full size semi truck for LSG Sky Chefs crossed the bridge today, headed towards Sylvan Rd. They had to use the grass near the railroad tracks to get around the barriers. He nearly capsized before realizing the danger, and spending the next 20 minutes backing back up over the bridge.

I have checked this many times and see that at some point someone had moved the signs to drive over the top of the gravel piles.
I will continue to monitor this issue.

Myself and Cpl. Crisp have issued many citations on this violation. Only solution to them driving over the gravel piles would be to add more gravel and concrete barricades to completely block the bridge.

We will continue to monitor this issue.

I have checked this area on several occasions and have not found or seen anyone getting around the barricades.
