Thank you for reporting the issue. This information has been reported to Blackstone and Deffenbaugh for investigation.
City staff has been working with representatives of the Johnson County Landfill (Waste Management ), Johnson County Health and Environment staff and Blackstone Environmental to eliminate off-site odor reports that surround the Johnson County Landfill.
Some recent odors can be attributed to work on the landfill gas system. This work began on August 14 and was necessary to continue to control odors. Deffenbaugh notified the City that there was potential for odors from this activity. This work has now been completed.
The City Council will consider the Special Use Permit for the landfill at their meeting on Monday, September 11 at City Hall, 11110 Johnson Drive beginning at 7 pm. The public is welcome to attend.
Additional information related to the Odor Study and recent actions taken by Deffenbaugh can be found at www.cityofshawnee.org.
