"I know they are doing work on part of that street but @#$%, the rest of it doesn't need to be like a double black diamond mogul ski run. I f*ck up my car driving on it... I can't imagine being on a bike. "
I've been down this road on a bike many a time. It may as well have a new tube dispenser at the end of the street. Pathetic.

Actually, the ENTIRE street is being upgraded, an extensive project that started last summer. This included adding catchbasins and street trees, altering (and reducing) parking arrangements to accommodate a new bike lane, widening and replacing sidewalks, changing traffic signals and signage and more.
I live on Brookline Street, so I am quite familiar with the disruption this has caused. The current holdup was the unexpected discovery of long-abandoned (trolley?) tracks during last week's road "grinding". Apparently the tracks must now be removed to ensure the road's structural integrity, delaying paving.
The road crew has been on the job every day, weather permitting, doing an exemplary job. (They have been very responsive to local residents' concerns and questions.) It's a construction site, a work in progress. It might just be best to detour around it until the work is finished.
