Description
While I applaud the city's effort to make bus stops safer by installing non-slip plastic mats on Sherbourne St., there is one detail that seems to have slipped by the designers: Running the length of the bus stop areas there are small drainage trenches covered by a piece of smooth perforated metal. I discovered firsthand the other day that these metal strips become very slippery when there's even a light coating of snow on them. I fear it's only a matter of time before someone is badly injured while trying to board a bus at one of these stops.
(also note in this picture, the remnants of plastic packaging still stuck to the anti-slip mats and the badly rusted plates protecting the trees, which are unsecured and are often dislodged onto the sidewalk or bike lane)
