Description
The stretch of 46th between Chicago and Bloomington is full of speeders who like to go 40+ MPH. They also like to pass on the right shoulder/parking lane, which is especially dangerous when parked cars are present. There is inadequate striping on this section of road. Please consider solid white lines to demarcate the traffic lane from the shoulder/parking lane.

We appreciate your email.
The City no longer installs or maintains speed humps/bumps, speed tables, or traffic calming devices due to budget reductions.
The most effective approach to addressing vehicle speeding issues or moving violations is through police enforcement. Please contact your Police Precinct to request an increase in patrol and enforcement.
Speed Trailers
Speed issues or traffic calming are also supported by placing mobile speed measuring devices ‘Speed Trailer’ on the street to inform drivers of excessive speeds.
If you will contact us between April and November we can give you more information about speed display trailer requests.
Alley speeding
Speed Wagons cannot be placed in alleys, however, alley speed limit signs are an option if placed by the property owner onto private property (2 per block), and can be requested by contacting 311.
Maintenance of Existing Speed Bumps
For alley speed bumps that are already installed, the maintenance of those devices are left up to the neighborhood. The City of Minneapolis no longer is able to install or maintain existing devices.
Street Striping
Street Stripe repainting begins in May, and is usually completed by July. Road work and paving will occasionally delay the striping process. Major arterial roadways are usually striped twice per year.
If there is anything else we can help you with please contact us. Thank you for emailing the City of Minneapolis.
