I live on the corner of rosemont and bloomfield and all local residents got a letter a year ago stating that bridge work would be done , but when??? I heard they would widen the road and that isolated white house would be gone, I just fear that those who drive 50+ miles an hour up the hill will go even faster.

They need to fix that bridge, widen it accordingly and implement trafic control devices (whether a speed bump or rumble strip) to control speed and safety in the area.

This is Eli, the starter of this post. I am astounded...it appears that Upper Darby Township has fixed the big pot hole in the bridge! If this is becuase of my post....well, thank you! I still think the bridge is collapsing, but at least things have improved.

Thanks for the info, Mike. That was really informative. I live near the bridge further up the hill and would not like to see more speed from the drivers who cut through the neighborhood to avoid the intersection of Garrett and Burmont.

So has this issue been fixed? What else about the bridge needs to be addressed?

If they would fix the bridge, maybe the 18 wheelers could use that entrance instead of grinding their way up Bloomfield Avenue at 5:30 in the morning. Amazing, the signs say no trucks over 9000 pounds, but they send their Sysco trucks up and down the road without even any hesitation. yes, that Bridge has been bad since I was a kid and I am now 45. I've seen plenty of trucks passing over that road (moving vans, u-haul, etc.)If you want to protect the integrity of the bridge,then assign and enforrce a weight limit. Personally, I think they should replace the entire bridge.

PS - Any major fixing would be done by the county. I am not sure what those surveyors were doing 18 months ago..They told me it is slated to be fixed but in 18 months I have seen nothing. The bridge remains delapidated and dangerous.

Next time there's an election remember this.
