Gail, if you are getting the glass replaced, please also consider tying to have them painted. These are unbelievable. Also, thank you for all of the time and effort that you had to put into getting the glass replaced, and possibly to have them painted.
The racks are in worse shape than the photo shows. They are badly dented with sharp rusted edges. They are abandoned. I walk by here twice a day. There haven't been papers in any of them in years. They do not need to be repaired; they need to be removed. Unless we consider them public art representing the end of modern journalism, they serve no useful purpose.
Status? There are also other abandoned racks in the area in equally bad shape. The one pictured here is now filled with rotting trash. When walks by it every day, it is hard to forget.
When are these racks going to be removed? There hasn't been a paper in them in years. How many years has the City Attorney been working on this and how much money has that cost taxpayers without result?
