Description

Since bigger pipes where put in erosion from the added water flow has started eating away at the back side of my yard causing sinkholes and a railroad tie wall to start leaning back toward ditch. There was a good bit of land separating the railroad tie wall and water from ditch. Since bigger pipe was put in water flow has increased dramatically along with erosion of ditch.

also asked...
Q. What is the issue?
A. Flooding
Q. Has it happened before?
A. Yes
Q. Can you see any debris obstructing the flow of water?
A. Yes
Q. Where is it located?
A. The back of my back yard
Q. Is it in the street or roadway?
A. No
Q. Do you know what may have caused it?
A. Yes
Q. Is there any other information to share that would help the City in resolving the problem?
A. Water runoff from streets runs into a pipe in front of my neighbors yard and empties into a ditch in the back of my back yard. The city put in larger pipes about 7 years ago because of flooding in my yard. The city bought a easement right of way to redo ditch area and add bigger basin for larger pipe. Since they put this in most of the rocks on sides of ditch have fallen in to ditch and tress are growing all over sides of ditch and in the middle of ditch. Causing erosion on my side and endangering my yard and garage. Also water has almost come to a stop now with all the trees and branches pilling up. The City told me when they bought right of way they where now responsible for keeping the ditch clean and clear and running. No one has ever done any maintenance on this ditch since it was changed 7 years ago.
Q. What do you think is causing the flooding?
A. Lack of maintenance of ditch to stop erosion of sides. Also stopping trees from growing in ditch and sides of ditch.
