This lot is used as a parking lot because the school is currently under construction. I agree the alley parking aspect needs to be handled, the parking in the dirt lot however harms no one. Before us parents were parking there, there were resident transients who would set up camp there. You would often see old trailers and campers parked there for days at a time. Ongoing presence has been keeping that away. We need to stop being so negative and try to understand that on that particular area, there are not very many other safe options of places for parents wishing to walk their children in to park.

I do not think anyone is being negative. I think it is more of the residents that actually live on this street and the inconvenience we are experiencing on a daily basis. This lot is private property and is not zoned or permitted to be a temporary parking lot. Regardless of the school being under construction, traffic laws need to be enforced. The small space cannot withstand the amount of traffic. The Traffic Division of Corona needs to address this issue and facilitate the safe and orderly movement of traffic.This is not about convenience but about safety. There was a time where there were transients and campers, which have ALL been reported through this site for the last year. I assure the city, allowing illegal use of private property is not what is keeping the transients away. If parents have a safety concern they should take that up with the school instead of breaking the city ordinances as an accommodation and placing the burden on residents.

The property owner has now been notified and we have given suggestions of fencing or signage to help remedy the issue; neither of which are required by the Corona Municipal Code.
