Is there wasp activity in the nest? The wasp nest was killed but not removed due to its location. It is not necessary to remove the nest as wasps generally do not re-use them.

The nest was sprayed to kill wasps, but not removed as it is on an important branch that we did not want to damage.

Yes there are still wasps going in and out. If a nest is sprayed during the day the wasps that are out 'working' are missed. I suspect they have also produced another Queen IF the original was killed. The tree branch is not as important as the citizen that could run afowl of this colony. I suggest you get someone to remove it at night so you get them all. Thats what a good exterminator would do.
