I definitely want all the roots taken out, especially the ones on the surface and the ones raising the sidewalk sections. My other concern is the tree near the water main and sewer line to my property.
I don't really want to lose the shade, but I'm not the expert here and will leave it to you to decide. If the trees need to be removed to solve the problem permanently, then that would be your call. The last concern is all the roots that have worked their way under the sidewalk, invading my yard, killing my lawn and breaking water sprinkler pipes. I have, over the years, had to repair the pipes on my own, but the roots keep on growing so it's an ongoing problem. Solutions implemented by the city in the past have been to remove a tree on the other side of my driveway (which we didn't think was the problem since it was a small tree and not in the area of the issue), shave down the sidewalk at different times in 3 different places and place a hard plastic barrier on the street side of the sidewalk. None of this has prevented the root growth to my property. There is also now a crack in the concrete of my garage floor which has occurred within the last year. Please help us to stop the continued root growth of the city trees, using whichever method you feel is best based on the advice of your experts, so that no further damage occurs to our property (house and pipes) nor to the city's water meter and sewer pipes adjacent to the trees. Please let us know what you decide as soon as possible.

After the sidewalk and curb were replaced another city employee came out and painted in the house number on the curb. During the removal of the trees the curb was damaged by them and now you can only see part of the address number. I don't understand why you guys do things backwards.
The sidewalk looks great, now I just have to deal with all the roots in my Yard and the cracks in my driveway.
