Description
The crossing guard arm came to rest right above the front of my hood when I seemed to be legally stopped. Usually at crossings, the arm comes down well in front of stopped traffic, allowing slack if someone is forced to stop late. Vehicle roofs and hoods have surely been hit at this location (I'm a cautious driver).
There should be a more urgent sign telling people (especially newcomers) to park well behind the white line. Or they could move the white line back 6 feet or so. Part of the problem is that the tracks are relatively far away, giving a sense of more cushion. You could technically call it driver error but it's still a risky location.
