I'm not really sure where the exact location of your complaint is. You indicated 16 Medford Street but you place the nearest landmark as Rt.-16. Rt.-16 and Medford Street do not intersect. Are you referring to the intersection of Medford and Main Street? If so, Main Street does have a yield sign as well as the word yield painted on two locations on the roadway. So Medford Street has the right of way. Please clarify if this is the location you are referring to.

Hi Officer Brooks, thanks for responding so quickly, and sorry for any confusion. The location is right behind the police station. If coming from Main St/Rt 38 and you turned Right after the station, to get onto Rt 16/Rt 93, soon after there's a left merge with Rt 16 traffic that is continuing on Rt 16 and not heading towards 93. I don't know if the road is still considered South St on this side of Rt 38. . .

OK, your referring to the exit from 93S onto Rt. 16E. Yes, always a little awkward. But DOT has posted yield signs at the bottom of the exit indicating ramp traffic is supposed to yield. Because of the curvature of Rt. 16 as it approaches that exit, it does make it a little difficult to get a clear line of sight. Next time you travel that way make note of the yellow sign which depicts traffic going straight should stay to the right and exit traffic should stay left at the merge. But usually traffic exiting a hi-way should yield when entering surface roads.

Per the above comment, traffic rarely if ever yields coming off of 93, making it almost impossible to get to the left lane if driving on 16. Almost been hit here several times, and have seen drivers from the off ramp insist the yield is for traffic on 16. The sign really is poorly positioned. Drivers on 93 think it is for drivers on 16 and vice versa. Also, drivers on the off ramp are supposed to form one lane, and often times form 2. So better signs here are long overdue. The cars speed off of 93, block traffic on 16, and never yield.
I know this is mostly a highway issue but it is really challenging.

No, it's the yield before that - not the offramp from 93. From police station, take R onto Rt 38/Main St, then 1st Right onto Rt 16/ South St heading towards Boston. Then you need to yield to merge left onto Rt 16. It's literally behind the police station. I'm happy to meet with you tomorrow or next week to show you in person.

Is the marker for this issue in the right spot? Maybe folks could include a link to a streetview of the spot they're worried about? (from google maps, use "Menu" in upper left to "share a link"

Ok got it, Technically that strip of road way from Main Street to the merge is an on-ramp. I agree, maybe we should have a yield sign in that location. I'll email DOT and see if we can get that taken care of. I'll keep you in the loop on this, thanks.
