Thank you for reporting the issue. Johnson County Department of Health and Environment inspected the rock quarry the week of September 26 and did not find any violations. They noted that "dust plumes" can occur from explosions on site that are not subject to air quality regulations or from the haul roads at either the quarry or the landfill. APAC, the company that operates the quarry, does have a watering truck and does wet down the roads to reduce dust. It is sometimes difficult on very hot and/or windy days to keep roads wet. Again, this type of dust is not subject to regulation in Kansas.
