The parking lot and driveways are privately owned and the property manager has agreed to install some signs within the parking lot. Additional signs have been requested on City owned green space at the west entrance to the complex.
The Safe Communities Committee will be reviewing traffic patterns in the area and will be brainstorming alternative traffic calming techniques that can be implemented.

The Safe Communities Committee discussed the issue on May 11th and came up with the following recommendations:
1. Install a Caution sign, warning for pedestrians ahead, on the city-owned greenspace at the west entrance into the complex. An example of the sign is attached.
2. Make the following suggestions to the property manager:
a. Install two (2) stop signs for east/west traffic to help calm the five-way corner between BELA, the Fire Hall and Alberta Works;
b. Paint stop bars at the stop sign locations; and
c. Paint a crosswalk that extends from the sidewalk on the east end of the BCIS building to the west entrance/sidewalk of the BELA building.
City Staff will draft a letter from the Safe Communities Committee to the property manager and will install the recommended sign.
