Description

A recent trip to Chicago highlighted how proper city planning can result in a pedestrian friendly waterfront and a stunning architectural skyline.

Equally as impressive is the traffic flow throughout the city. I drove through a number of neighborhoods throughout the course of day including rush hour with ease.

It drives me bonkers that Toronto seems to lack a traffic flow policy. Lights in this city seem to be too short, out of sync or inconsistent from one week to another.

I have occasion to drive from Bloor and Royal York to Liberty Village primarily via Bloor and the Queensway. There seems to be no logic to the short lights nor the lack of syncing.

A more glaring example of this problem is a recent trip I took along St. Clair from Yonge to Scarlett Rd. I am guessing there are approx. 35 traffic lights over that stretch. I managed to hit a red light at every intersection except for one in spite of very light traffic on the road.

Improved traffic flow alleviate a number of issues including pollution, fuel consumption and driver frustration. I believe it would also reduce traffic mishaps as there are way too many people running yellow and red lights

Are you aware of anyone in City Hall who is responsible for this and does the City have any plans to deal with these issues?

Thanks for your time

Best,

George Soltys
