I drive this intersection at least twice a day and then my fiance drives it 4 times a day and we have yet to see more than one accident here every 4 months. I have been told that before they put in the "Prepare to come to a stop when flashing" sign that there were significantly more accidents with a higher fatality rate due to people accelerating north on 91 in an attempts to "make the light".
While I agree that the lights need to be changed (More than once I have had to wait at every intersection from Volks to Lakeshore with many intersections with no crossing traffic) I think there isn't anything else to do to make this intersection any better than any of the other intersections in the area. I don't honestly think that lowering the speed limit would help because then you would get the people listening to the limit causing the people who will not listen to the limit to swerve in and out of lanes around them.
