This issue on Rte 378 has not been fixed or even addressed. The road has been like this quite a while and nothing done.

I think that the delay has to do with the fact that there is no one from the town of Menands who is receiving notifications about this issue. Does anyone have an email contact for the mayor's or the Public Works department? I see that Tim Boyd is head of Public Works, but there is no email address listed on the town's website.

Getting email contacts for the city is an important first step to getting this problem fixed.

Who is responsible for the upkeep of this road? Menands is part of the Town of Colonie; or is this a State road?

as done in other area, mill off the high points and that will smooth out the ride and does not require major re-do of the road.

The entire road need to be paved. all these patches will fall apart as soon as plows hit them in the winter, as they do every year.

CDTC’s solicitation for candidate projects resulted in the submission of $500 million worth of proposed work from State and Local transportation agencies in the CDTC area . Unfortunately the anticipated available funding was $100 million. While NYSDOT ranked the project high on our priority list CDTC used its rating system to determine need and priority. The Rt. 378 project was ultimately ranked quite low by the committee and was not funded.

I guess we can thank the CDTC for voting politicians in that will change that committee and work on roads that the people who pay there salary want fixed. For as much traffic 378 receives, especially during the school year, one would think to make the road better. Too often I see roads getting redone that only have a fraction of the traffic 378 sees.

I don't know how much of what NYS DOT told me is actually the truth because although I looked it up, we need to ask ourselves how many times has this project been rejected. 378 has been like this as long as I can remember...so how many times has it been shot down and why? The road is HORRIBLE !!!!

As the initial person who began the first comment posted about the huge need for rt 378 to be repaired, due to those "car damaging bumps" I first noted, I will again support my fellow rt 378 daily drivers with the fact that the road is still not only HORRIBLE, as others have stated, but worse than ever, after 8 months ago I stated it was. And to add to my frustration along with others also commenting their frustration, traveling the road daily, I recently have had a broken ball joint-with my front wheel- "ready" to fall right off on my drive in to mechanic for repairs- along with a need for replacing the tie rod and front axle. It is very clear to me -how with daily wear and tear from rt 378 -this damage to my car arose. When will someone pave this road?

Well, after all these months, it still hasn't been repaved! As one person stated, Route 378 is quote-unquote "not on the DOT's list of priorities."

Is it time for us citizens fed up with being ignored to stage a little protest, maybe? Perhaps a bunch of us who are all sick and tired of trying to traverse this horrendous excuse for a road should block the road for an hour or two... maybe, right at 7:30 AM on say, a nice, busy Monday morning rush-hour... Just when everybody is trying to get to work and school! That might get our message across that we're sick and tired of these useless bureaucrats not doing their jobs...

Maybe the Times Union or CBS6 might cover the story so we can get some action on getting this logging trail upgraded to something resembling a road!!

Going to the media is good idea. Also, this is a state route so repeated phone calls to NYS DOT is also not a bad idea. I called once and that is where I received the info on CDTC. Again 378 has been like this for 2 at least a decade, so WHY is it rejected ??

New york State DOT should be ashamed of themselves. 378 is in terrible condition.It is getting worse as the winter sets in. Its a accident waiting to happen.

We drove on 378 yesterday & noticed construction workers paving left side of the road going up the hill toward Van Rensselaer Blvd. Hopefully they plan to pave the other side as well. It has long been needed. My daughter has had to pay repair bills twice to have the tirods replaced and wheels aligned.
