Description

This weekend was Pearl Palooza on North Pearl St. The street was completely blocked off starting at Pine St. However, the block between Maiden Ln and PIne St also had no parking signs for both sides for the entire day. Now, I live on this block. I saw the signs and parked my car around the corner and up State St. As a resident who follows the parking enforcement rules, it is very frustrating to see that NO ONE who parked here on Saturday were ticketed despite the Emergency No Parking Signs. Last year, there were no signs on this block of the street and yet I STILL RECEIVED A TICKET. Thankfully, I noticed it almost immediately and was able to go down and catch an officer who ripped it up when I explained that there were no signs saying that there was no parking there.

The parking enforcement down here is absolutely ridiculous. There is constantly people (state workers) parking in front of fire hydrants, double parking, etc. No tickets are ever given. But as soon as you have a resident here committing an infraction, tickets are thrown around like candy. If you want people to move down here so badly you should really do something about the parking situation. Why no Resident Permits can be given out is beyond me. Its not like the city would lose that much money on it. Just start ticketing the state workers who are clearly above the law and you'll make it up very shortly I'm sure.
