Description
Royal oaks drive and 102 street need a crosswalk or some 4 way stops, and a slower traffic flow. I live on the Northridge estate....people use the 102 like its the 43 they are not safe ..i want to be able to cross the road to the path safely.there are several crossings missing from this street by the way..102 i mean...thanks
That also goes for the 43 up by the COOP over to the other side of the 43 by Wapiti peace academy...infrastructure is limited for this area...lots ofpeople and children...dog walkers..plus crazy drivers who speed and weave...

Thank you for your comment.
City staff are aware of this issue and before a crosswalk is implemented, certain requirements are assessed. This assessment may included but not limited to the undertaking of traffic counts (volume of both pedestrian and vehicular traffic) at this location and reviewing of the traffic speed along 108 Street.
We do apologize for the inconvenience and we ask that you do utilize this intersection as an unmarked crosswalk where as per 'Alberta's Driver Guide to Operations, Safety and Licensing' "the pedestrian indicate their intention to cross by raising an arm at a right angle and pointing to the opposite curb. As well as ensure the vehicular traffic has stopped and you are able to cross without delay.

A traffic impact study for 102 Street was undertaken and can be found on the City's website at http://www.cityofgp.com/index.aspx?page=341 identifying that any upgrades to be undertaken at 116 Avenue & 105 Street will occur simultaneous with any upgrades to be undertaken at 116 Avenue & 102 Street.
Similarly, Royal Oaks and 102 Street was also part of the 102 Street Traffic Study and the recommendation identified that stop control is adequate, however, crosswalk implantation would be reviewed and addressed if required.
